Welcome to the Meninism blog. Awkward name aside, we hope you’ll enjoy it here. Our aim is to promote the discussion of feminist issues with a particular view as to what role men have, if any, in the feminist movement.
I’ve always been struck by the amount of men and women who hold feminist views but fail to self-identify as feminists – how can that be addressed? Is it through mainstream efforts like How To Be A Woman, or is it more subtle than that? And why are men often excluded from a conversation that not only affects them but could also benefit from their input?
This isn’t about the men’s rights movement. It’s not about the ‘nice guy’ phenomenon. It’s an effort to explore the issues surrounding the interplay between men and the feminist movement. Can any man really call themselves a feminist? Are men included in the conversation enough? Should they be included at all?
Over the next few weeks we’ll be publishing a series of posts that’ll explore these ideas and more. If you’d like to contribute, get in touch on Twitter at @MeninismBlog or @JosephStash, or send a brief email to jostashko(at)gmail(dot)com.
